On Monday, October 30, 2023, Bremen High School's Circle Book Club hosted fiction author, Patrick Field, in two virtual meets in the main gym. Circle sponsor, Andrea Ignelzi, and club members Esperanza Anaya and Marijane Guildfoyle coordinated the meetings. Over 125 students and their teachers participated in real-time Google meets where Mr. Field shared how he became a published author after retiring from a career as a college professor and gave a summary of his published novel, Servant. He also read an excerpt from his novel and responded to student questions. Students learned about Mr. Field's story inspirations, about his writing process, and about the steps he took to get his novel published. In addition, Mr. Field provided signed bookmarks for students, and Circle Book Club gave away two copies of Servant. Bremen High School and Circle Book Club are always eager to expand access to literacy and facilitate connections with successful professionals in order to enhance student learning.
