Spooky Season Post # 9, October 9, 2026: "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 9, 1993, the stop-motion animated musical fantasy that changed Halloween forever. In my opinion, this crossover masterpiece of puppetry between Halloween and Christmas is the reason why Halloween animatronics and decor appear in box stores in August, the most commercial holiday after Christmas. Personally, I'm obsessed with the goblins Lock, Shock, and Barrel and the Danny Elfman-composed (and sung) song, "Kidnap the Sandy Claws!"
